During the month of November PPMK was awarded the Community Grant Scheme (CGS) to develop ‘up skilling workshops’ for 30 of our clients. CGS is a grant scheme run by the Australian Volunteers Program (AVI) in partnership with the Planet Wheeler Foundation. It is a funding program for small projects that enhances the work of AVI’s Partner Organisations.
Over the next 9-months PPMK will hold a series of workshops teaching some of our client’s pattern making, mushroom farming and snack making. Participants of these workshops will also be provided with basic materials and equipment to expand their businesses. We selected participants based on their enthusiasm, interests and need to expand their skill sets and businesses. These clients have wanted to develop their skills however have been unable to due lacks of access to resources and finances.
To further support these women and the success of their businesses, we are also running industry-specific marketing workshops. Follow-up consultations with clients will also be undertaken to assess the success of the workshops and whether these clients require further assistance in developing their businesses.
We hope that by ‘up skilling’ these women with practical skills, relevant to their interests and businesses, these women will be able to increase their earning potential and autonomy. Watch this space for further updates over the following!
